Disable UAC before installing 3DS Max Install all service packs and hot fixes
Max should automatically turn off Aero at start up, if it doesn't right click on the Max .exe file go to properties compatability check Disable Visual Themes and Disable Desktop Composition.

What about Max 9 and Vista Business 64?
I have a license of 9 (NOT 2009) at work and will be getting a dual quad workstation with vista64 (I can do xp64 too..just thought it's time to switch to a newer system...? now I'm actually having second thoughts.. all of my office is xp..) I don't have the workstation yet here and I can't allow for testing whether it will or will not work. I'd like to know beforehand. Has anyone tried this? Thanks for your time.
