Yeah, watching this a while back already had me convinced that this was going to be the best upgrade in years;
Softimage updates look ace too, although I still barely know how to do much in it. But dang I already love that program.

Is it just me making shit up, or does that viewport quality look way the hell better? It looks almost like a render in itself (a clay render)?

thats just nitrous looking like it usually does.
Personally i only found 2 items of interest in the list of stuff, the gPoly and .net exposure. Lets hope this version is an actual improvement over 2011 :p

Those are some good annoying fixes - you hope that just means they're taking on feedback which is great. Double click loop sounds good. In XSI you can alt middle click to get rings and loops and I miss that quickly when Im in max so hopefully this helps

Think that was the only feature I was a little confused by - if you had an edge or poly selected you could already quick-select a ring or loop by shift-clicking another poly or edge.
Or at least I can in 2012, only found it the other month! Guess double-clicking is a bit quicker, at least.

Oh reevesy. Why don't you just setup your wacom settings for max so that the buttons do what you want them to do?

Don't think it's that simple. If I wanted 'left click' to be anything else Id have to use that button to click on ANYTHING

So I totally stuck with 2011 because of all major issues with 2012 and how bad it sucked and all, but I have to say I like what they are doing here. I am definately going to give it a shot. I only saw about 4 things that I thought were actually worth upgrading for. Personally i hate most of the new UI elements AD has implemented into max and I have resisted all the way... I still use the same original color scheme I have since day one. Haven't used nitro really all that much but it looks petty GD awesome. I can leave all the maya similaritys out but otherwise I'm pretty excited!

Strange, as I gladly skipped 2011 (stayed on 2010) and went straight to 2012.

2012 works fine for me. I'll sticking with my subscription and getting 2013.

It's probably about time to get a new version, still got 2010. How's GPU rendering these days, especially for animations?

GPU rendering by default means Iray in Max. How well it performs depends on the scene and the GPU hardware.
Max 2013 looks like it's going to be a great upgrade. There are some new things which I can't wait for.
Still lots of work to do though, of course.
