3Ds Max 2010 Array Tool Tutorial Basics //
show user profile  Livender
Hi guys,

About a year ago I created a tutorial about the array tool (I only had 7 weeks experience with 3Ds Max when I created it). But I kinda need feedback on it now to get some last points needed for school.
So if you guys can please watch it and give ur opinion as critical as possible. Cause I really need some feedback.
Remember it's very basic, so don't expect much, also my knowledge of 3Ds Max back then wasn't supergreat.

Here it is:

(Its made in Microsoft Word, if you can't open or don't wanna download it please tell me, I can make some screenshots of it instead then. And I will upload those)

Thanks for your time,

Peace

I would rather not download a word document. If there is any other option...

I'm really sorry for the late respons. Had some personal problems...

I converted the tutorial to 1 giant screenshot... but for some reason I can't get it to upload correctly... So I now made a Jpeg file of it. You can open it in Microsoft paint or Photoshop or whatever program. Hope this is better than a .docx file.

Here is it: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=JJVX1VPT

Hoping I can get some feedback now :)
Have to collect some feedback before april 1st (deadline)

Thanks for your time guys,

Greetings,

Rick

JPG?......In megaupload?.....From unknown, new user?

Why not make it a self-extracting EXE that I must run with full admin rights?

Edit: Thx Nik!

OK, I've read it now. You wanted our comments. Here are mine. Part of my job is being a technical author, writing educational material, so I am very picky.

The content is OK. It's worthy of creating something simple for beginners like this, although this is covered quite well in the help files that come with Max.

1) Grammar. You need somebody who understands grammar to rewrite it. Nearly all of it.

2) There are spelling mistakes.

3) The way you talk to the audience changes. I would not use this text in a book teaching Max, as you are too "buddy buddy" with the reader in places. It's more like you talking, the words a teacher may use in the classroom. Who is this aimed at?

4) Step by step instructions are sometimes vital. There are lumps of instruction that could be arranged to make it easier for the student.

5) Sentences like "Cause now it is time for the real fun part" really don't read very well and if I'm honest, are poor English.

There are words where you have omitted characters, but your spell checker hasn't picked it up because it's a legal word "Now you(R) cylinder is perfectly aligned..."

There is a lot more I could point out, but I think you need somebody who can sit down with this and address these issues. At the moment, it's as if you are simply recording your words as you talk, which is not how this sort of material is typically written.

I hope this helps. Sorry if it comes across as negative. I'm sure you'd rather I pointed these things out.

Tnx for the feedback, I know my english grammar isn't the best. It's just that English isn't my native language. I try to improve it though.
I hope some more guys can give me feedback, I want to try to collect as many feedback possible.

This is the first tutorial I ever created, so I will really use everything you guys have to tell.

Yeah, I tried to involve the reader into the tutorial. Didnt want it to come over as "kiddy". Tried to make it a bit "playful" and "happy"

So it's basicly that I have to improve my grammar / spelling and doublecheck for sloppy mistakes. And prevent big lumps of text.

Well I had it doublechecked by an English teacher of mine, she helped me get rid of some of the mistakes I made.

Thanks for your time guys, I appreciate it! :)
