3D view on a website.

Im still trying to get a 3d file onto a website so i can scroll around...
iv tried everything there but i cant find anyway.

Just a simple page what loads the full 3d view, 1 view port what lets you scroll around. Thats all i want.

Are you experienced in Actionscript?

Papervision and others like sandy etc require a pretty solid understanding of coding in Flash. The page you linked to details a parser for collada, but Papervision as an example has built-in parsers for DAE and other formats. I was actually working with Tim Knip by supplying some varied collada exports that he could test and optimise the parser with. Not tried it in a while though so no idea how far they`ve got..

So, yeh u need to setup papervision and implement your 3d scene via a fair bit of actionscript. Have fun.

[edit] There are alternatives like TurnTool and WildPockets which do a REALLY nice job of what u want but require the end-user to download a plugin to view..

i tried wildpockets but i couldnt get the 3d file uploaded there :(
iv done nothing with actionscripts before so i guess i shouldnt start if there is alot to do for what i want. Im going to have a look at turntool now!

I think you should persist with wild pockets, it is really good after you get used to it, I use it on my car model and watering can on my portfolio site and I love it. its all free too.

im going through every tutorial what is relevant to me to see if it works, the exporter for 2010 doesnt seem to be working for me. thats my problem with it! or it could be the track im making i dunno

Well there you go its telling you what you are doing wrong. the material you use for any of the objects can only be either the standard type, or multi/sub using standard materials. also the material can only be using the diffuse, glossiness and bump slots. if you need transparency, use a png in the diffuse slot. if you use a normalmap add it as a regualr bump image. any other slots used in the materials will give you this error. this is a limitation of the viewer at this point but I blieve there are plans to expand on it later.

theres nothing wrong with the exporter, just the person trying to use it without reading up on it :p

When you say deleted all the materials do you mean just out of the material editor? because they will still be applied to the objects regardless of whether you can see them in the editor.

It even tells you what materials to look at and correct, cant be much more self explanatory

material '15 - defualt' has more than just diffuse gloss and bump

material Global is neither a standard or multi/sub material.

Uhhh, yes there is. It should ignore slots / settings it doesn't understand, not stop dead.
