3d printing in metal
show user profile  npcph
anyone have a company that you would recommend for high quality 3d metal printing? I saw a website yesterday that offers custom made coins out of all different types of metals but they do it via stamping and the die cost would make it too expensive to do. So I'm thinking that having them printed on 3d printers would be another option. So what i would like to do is create a coin for all of the members of my family as a holiday gift. I collect coins and thought it would be a cool idea to get one for each person and put together a set of the entire family for everyone. But the die costs are $100 each and i have 33 people so just the die costs alone make it way to expensive. So if you have a company you would recommend, please let me know.

I am making a sample coin to send off to get quoted. i want to take a photo and use it as a displacement map on the front of the coin. What would be the best process for this? I already have a picture and edited it to remove the background and then made a normal map. I added it to a plane with displacement. is there a better way becuase the picture came out, but it is rough.
