3D Max courses (UK)
show user profile  Robroy

I was just wondering if anyone here has taken a 3D max (or alternative) course in the UK?

Im currently finishing a degree in computer animation, but feel that I need to learn more before attempting to find a job. Im quite keen to learn UVW mapping (this was taught badly on my degree course)/ character animation, and some advanced modelling techniques amongst other things...

Dont get me degree course has been useful, but I still feel theres more to be learnt.

So if anyone could recommend any courses that would be great :)

kind regards, Rob

If you've already come out a degree and don't believe yourself to be ready for employment. My suggestion would be to knuckle down, and learn Max in your own time. Especially if it's simply all you're looking to better yourself in. You will require a lot of will power though!

Alternitavely, I highly recommend looking for somewhere that do internships. Learn on the job, so to speak... it's unlikely you'll be paid (thought not unheard of). But it sure as hell beats pouring thousands more away for more schoolin'.

Id have to agree with Dave , there are very few 3d related courses worth doing(and paying for) - teach yourself, everyone else has and its what you'll end up doing anyway - course or not. All you need is a computer and an internet connection.

cheers for the advice. I'll see how it goes...

Im quite capable in Max, but just feel that im not utilizing the whole programme. I'll look around, but in the meantime just keep learning I suppose! thanks again

You're UK right? Dunno if you're interested in a career in the ole Games Industry, but it might worth your time to pop along to the Career Fair this month (first one is tomorrow)
