MAX 2015 Viewport Material Display...?

I just "upgraded" to 3DS MAX 2015, and I'm having some serious viewport problems, especially with Composite maps (though this seems to happen with just a single Bitmap).
I have two bitmaps, both PNGs with an alpha mask (I've also tried JPGs with separate B&W mask maps), both on separate map channels (1 & 2), and they are offset from each other (I've tried using both UVW Map modifiers and just offsetting them from the Bitmap map). You can see this in the Material preview window.
HOWEVER, in the viewport, you can see the bitmaps stay on top of each other when displayed, AND the color of the object turns to black. When rendered, they look correct, but I need to be able to position bitmaps in the viewport, and right now I cannot do this.
I have tried absolutely everything I can think of, including trying every Display driver. This did not happen in MAX 2013. Is the problem possibly with Windows 10 and not MAX?
I'm at my wit's end, here...can anybody help out? Please?

i remember 2015 also having issues with viewing map channels. this is good in 2014 and 2016, i still prefer working in 2014, theres still lots of bugs.
