Max 2010 won't safe viewport settings
show user profile  Joey Parker Jr.
Every time I open max I have to check these settings.
They won't save on the new machine.
No problem on the old one.
why?
Is it video card related? Please don't tell me I have to reload max.

^^^Yep. Those little red circles with the check marks in em?^^^
They're unchecked when I reopen max.
Any thoughts?

Those are some fine circles you've got there Joey.

I have no idea why it isn't saving them, but have you tried saving UI settings and the like manually after you make this change? Although... is that even linked? I dunno.

I would try making those changes again, and then saving that blank max scene to desktop. Close max (ensure it's definitely closed and not idling in the background processes). Then open the newly saved scene (don't open max and then file > open the scene... just open the scene!)

If it keeps the settings... take that max file and overwrite the one in the installation directory with it.

Long shot but try running max as admin.

... and even longer shot, if you are logging on to a domain server, check that max has permission to modify files in it's own directory.

... and an even longer shot, stand back from your computer, point at the screen and demand that it do what you want it to do.

Thanks to all of you!
BishbashRoss - You are the man, I owe beers or vodka or something.
Running max as admin worked!

What a wonderful forum this is. :)
