Up for some 1v1 sculpting competitions?
show user profile  jbrophy
Sort of just forming the idea but I was wondering if anyone would be up for some sculpting battles. I do realize this is maxforums but sculpting has become a very important part of the graphics industry. You could use Zbrush, mudbox or even Sculptris(free) or many more I don’t know about. It could be 1v1 style where both candidates are given a theme. Two people enter, one person leaves . We could have a thread for each battle where you must update with wips. Get me some feedback and ideas on this and I will set it up. I figure it has a better chance of success than a big tournament where there are so many dependencies.

Do not disappoint me…..

only if there is a noobie bracket! Sounds like a good idea though.. any idea on themes and time scales?

I've been working through the (recently made free) mud box masterclasses, they're over at mudboxlive.com.

I've just started with zbrush so I won't be participating but I'm definitely interested in watching.
Especially if there is a strong requirement to detail the workflow in the wip.

I suggest to do it every sixth months, just to raise expectations. The judge(s), to be decided, obviously can't enter.

Ok so some takers, good. Who cares if you are new, it is just a 1v1. Nothing to lose, lots to learn. As far as frequency let's see if we can get one final sculpt out of this first before we repeat it. I have seen, and been a part of, a lot of I am in only to not have time. Alright I think we should use this thread to line up the competitors and come up with ideas. Each VS team can do whatever they want. Maybe a subject and some key words. In the end it needs to be something both people really want to do instead of me going you two go make this. Find a competitor in this thread and you two discuss, in here is fine and then create a new thread to show your progress.

Maybe

1VS1 Maxforums - Name / Name

I would like to do some armor on something to work on hard surface ideas or a mech like thing with organic bits.

You're on Dave. The winner gets the equivalent in pound sterling of what is considered a 'local' pint? And maybe 53 fronats.

I'd quite like to do something organic, yet humanoid. What are your thoughts?

edit: Oh, and... I've moved back home and my max pc is still at my flat, but I'll be back there from Saturday (long story)

Sounds cool, bad timing though, not much time for it atm.
Just wondering, is the point of the challenge to make a nice sculpt or a nice image?
You can make a bad sculpt look good with a good presentation, which wouldn't be fair if the focus is on the sculpting...a screenshot should do...just a though that i think i important to point out.
