the icon is just a normal align tool > aligns whatever object (the target in this case) to the face you want on your object.

An easier method would be to enable to viewport realistic mode (nitrous not d3d) and move the light in the viewport enabling you to place the spec highlight in realtime. eg.

Clean and sweet way to clean your file from plugins to give it away nice and clean

1. Turn off all installed max plugins except Vray.
2. Load scene and get all that darn popups.
3. Run merlinScripts_MrClean.mse
4. Click "Remove missing plugins"
5. Change the renderer to "Default Scanline Renderer"
6. In Raytracer tab switch off "Enable raytracing" and "Show Messages"
7. Turn Vray back on
8. Run merlinScripts_MrClean.mse and click "Replace Raytrace maps"
9. Paste this in the listener: rendOutputFilename = "". It will clear render output.
10. Use "Archive" to collect all maps in one zip file. Then open that zip and copy all maps from various possible folders to folder with your max file.
11. Click "References - > Asset Tracking" and strip all maps paths.
12. Check if your scene is using layers. If not I'd recommend to split the whole scene on some nice logical layers. It will help people who will work with your scene a LOT.
13. Save your file in 3ds max 2012 format.
14. Arhive that folder and send it to your client or co-worker.

Thx donvella for "missed plugins" part.
